Last week, Dr. Charles Thibault of EarthCon’s Memphis office attended and presented a poster at the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting in New Orleans, LA. The AGU meeting is the largest Earth and space science meeting in the world with a myriad of presentations and poster sessions available.

The poster presented was entitled “Ground Truthing Hurricane Nate to Validate Bathtub Models of Inundation in Coastal Harrison County, MS.” It was submitted in the “Late-Breaking Research Related to the 2017 Hurricane Season in the Americas.” The poster was the only entry to evaluate the unusually high surge associated with Nate, a category 1 storm on the Saffir-Simpson Scale, and it received a lot of interest at the meeting. The results presented in the poster are preliminary, and the finalized results are currently being prepared for journal submittal.
